Silk has a long and glorious history. About the origin of the silk, there are many fairy tales.

Silk Development
About 5000 or 6000 years ago, in the middle of the Neolithic Age, China had silkworm breeding, silks and satins. Up to the Warring States Period, silk was prevailed in China and had more varieties, mainly consists plain silk, damask and brocade. Silk textile got a rapid development in Qin Dynasty and Han Dynasty. Chinese silk trade and export was at the height of splendor. The flourishing silk trade greatly boosted the integration of China domestic economy and culture with neighbors. The famous " Silk Road " was created during the time, which starts from the ancient Chang'an, by way of Gansu province, Sinkiang to the west, through Middle Asia and West Asia to the destination of Europe.

During Song Dynasty and Yuan Dynasty, there appeared Song brocade, silk and silk textile decorated with gold. Up to Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty, silk production and trade became commercialized. Since the establishment of the People's Republic of China, China silk industry has stride into a brand new period. The silk industry has become the main industry of earning foreign exchange by export. Silk and China Culture The flourishing of the silk brings a new era for China silk dress, also makes great influence on Chinese culture. There are plenty of Chinese psalms and poems on the theme of mulberry silkworm and silk, and lots of myths and stories are about silk and mulberry. 

Natural Silk and Silk Textile
China is the cradle of cultivated silk. At the New Stone Age, China had tabby technology, reeled yarn weaving technology and cinnabar dyeing technology. Then with the development of the loom, Chinese printing and dyeing technology gradually formed a complete dyeing and weaving technology system.
Silk Road
The Silk Road is a general name for all the routes between China and the West countries. Actually, there is more than one way. There are South Silk Road, North Silk Road (Middle Silk Road), New North Silk Road and other Sea Silk Road.
